Girls Need Guides . . . . and Guides Canada Needs You!

VOLUNTEER
NOW!

Every girl needs a guide - someone to show her how much she can accomplish; someone to remind her that she matters and someone to steer her in the right direction when social pressures start to weigh on her.  This is where you come in!

"Really? Me?" you might be asking.  Really, YOU!  Don't sell yourself short.  You have so much to offer.  As a Guide Leader, you can make a real and lasting difference in a girl's life by encouraging her to reach her potential, and you don't need a degree in child psychology to do it!  Simply by showing up ready to have fun and be yourself, you'll be setting a great example.

And the girls aren't the only ones who will benefit from your involvement.  Guiding is a great place to make connections with your community, to form new friendships and to try things you might not otherwise have tried (think horseback riding, science experiments, camping under the stars, and the list goes on), all while having fun.Join Us

Still don't believe you've got what it takes?
Take a look at the list below and find out.

Could you be a Guide leader?

  • Are you a female and 18 or older?
  • Do you like having fun and being silly?
  • Do you want to make a difference in the lives of Canadian girls?
  • Do you have four hours a week to give to a good cause?

And here's what you DON'T need:

  • You don't need experience working with youth.
If you got the will to work with girls, we'll show you the way!  Girl Guides of Canada provides an introductory program, a mentor and training opportunities for all new Guide leaders.
  • You don't need lots of prep time or an unlimited supply of ideas.
Each branch of Guiding has its own program book filled with age-appropriate activity ideas as well as a special guide for leaders.  You can follow the program, consult our website for ideas, or dream up your own activities to meet the program objectives.
  • You don't need expertise in camping, cookie selling, arts and crafts or anything else!
Part of the fun of being a Guider leader is learning new things right along with the girls!  Plus, through our network of Guiding advisors, you'll have no trouble finding volunteers with expertise in all areas to help you along the way.

Girl Guides of Canada-Guides du Canada is Canada's largest organization for girls, led by women who are young at heart.  But more than that, it's the place where almost 120,000 girls and women come for new friends and amazing adventures, and we want you to be a part of the fun!
