February 2008 SENIOR BRANCHES BECOME RANGERS!In September 2008, Senior Branches officially changed their name to Rangers, and a new program was introduced. Girls wanted a more flexible program with more program ideas. Therefore, the new program was developed as a single program in which a girl can participate either as a Ranger or a Junior Leader (Cadets and Junior Leaders will be combined). The new name – Rangers – dates back to 1920 when Lady Baden Powell suggested the name for Senior Guides. After consulting with Senior Branches girls and Guiders across Canada, it was decided that, over 80 years later, the meaning of Ranger still holds true and offers girl Members 15-17+ the chance to try new things, meet new people, do good work, travel to new places and widen their perspective. SCHOLARSHIPS: Reminder to Ranger Guiders to encourage your Ranger members to apply for Scholarships and Bursaries.
