Rachel S., Lougheed Area Bursary Recipients
“People have an idea of what a Girl Guide is. Yes, we camp, tie knots, and sing songs around campfires. Yet, I’ve also had hands-on experiences travelling, serving my community and building new skills. Guiding has given me countless opportunities to participate in service projects involving my local community and the world. It is a place where I can grow and give as much as I receive. Girl Guides has encouraged me to care about the world around me and to be more active in my community. I like how I can take Girl Guides with me outside my unit meetings and camps. The skills and characteristics Girl Guides has instilled in me continue to help me at school, at home, and everywhere else. I am more prepared, confident, and hopeful of what I can achieve in my future career as a woman in STEM.”
